Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 May 2026
This privacy policy explains how ReCap handles information when you use the ReCap Android app.
Summary
ReCap is designed to be lightweight, private and user-controlled. The app records only when you choose to start a capture. ReCap does not read your messages, does not monitor your notifications, and does not upload your recordings to ReCap servers.
Information ReCap accesses
ReCap may request access to:
- Camera — to record your selfie reaction video.
- Microphone — to record audio during your reaction video.
- Draw over other apps — to show the floating ReCap trigger and capture overlay.
- Notifications — only if you choose to receive a notification after a capture is saved.
- Device storage/media library — to save, review, share and delete ReCap video captures.
Recordings
ReCap recordings are saved locally on your device, normally in the Movies/ReCap folder. ReCap does not upload your recordings to ReCap servers. If you choose to share a recording, it is shared using the app or service you select on your device.
Messages and notifications
ReCap does not read your messages, does not inspect message content, and does not use a notification listener to monitor incoming notifications.
Purchases
ReCap may offer a Premium upgrade through Google Play. Purchase processing is handled by Google Play. ReCap uses purchase status only to unlock Premium features in the app.
Ads
ReCap does not currently show ads.
Data sharing
ReCap does not sell your personal data. ReCap does not operate a backend service for uploading or storing your reaction videos.
